When he arrived, the chairman was sacked. Former chairman reinstalled.

Hashan Dissanayake, chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Insurance Board, was removed from that position today (16).

Ministry sources indicates that when Mr. Hashan Dissanayake reported to work this morning (16), the ministry secretary called him and informed him to allow the new chairman to take over.

Accordingly, Mr. M. B Weerasekera who served as the former chairman of the board took over as its chairman yesterday.

Mr. Hashan Dissanayake said that he was removed from the chairmanship of the Agricultural and Agricultural Insurance Board without prior notice.

In this regard, in an inquiry made to a high official of our ministry, he said that he was removed from that position in view of the strong objection raised by many officials of the institution regarding Mr. Dissanayake’s activities.

Also, the official further mentioned that he had even disregarded certain orders of the higher officials of the ministry.
