Was Türkiye oblivious to the impending disaster?

Scientists say that it is impossible to make predictions about an earthquake before it happens. But the question whether it is still valid has been raised. That is with the strong earthquake of magnitude 7.8 that occurred in Turkiye early yesterday morning.

Frank Hoogerbeets, a Dutch researcher, made a prediction on his Twitter account a few days ago, on the 3rd of February.

“Sooner or later there will be an earthquake of ~7.5 M in this region (South-Central Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon),” he wrote on his Twitter account.

The prediction published by Dutch researcher Frank Hoogerbeets has been heavily discussed on social media due to the fact that he correctly recorded it 03 days before the earthquake in Turkey.

After that, Frank Hoogerbeets once again tweeted that there is a possibility of strong aftershocks in the region, including Turkiye.
