Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage today issued warrants to Wasantha Mudalage, convener of the Inter-University Student Body, and Rathkarawe Jinarathana Thero, who did not appear in court today, in relation to a police complaint alleging that they acted as an unlawful crowd during a demonstration in 2021.
A complaint filed by the Fort Police alleging that they acted in an unlawful blockade during a protest in the Fort area in 2021 was heard today in the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.
Wasantha Mudalige and Ratkarawe Jinarathana Thero, who are named as suspects in the relevant complaint, did not appear in court.
Accordingly, the magistrate accepted a request made by the police and issued these warrants.
