Clement Voule tweeted that the move banned public meetings.

UN Special Representative for Freedom urged Sri Lankan authorities to respect protesters’ rights.

Last week, President Ranil Wickramasinghe announced Colombo High Security Zones.

High Security Zones include Parliament, Supreme Court, High Court and Magistrate Court-Colombo, Attorney General’s Department, Presidential Secretariat, Presidential Palace, Navy, Air Force and Police Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka Army Headquarters- Akuregoda, Prime Minister’s Office, temple complex, security forces, and commanders’ quarters.

Local and international politicians have protested Colombo’s high security zones, which restrict public freedom.
