Trade union action has crippled postal service.

According to the Department of Postal Services, over 400 parcels have piled up in the overseas section of the Colombo Central Post Exchange due to postal workers’ trade union action.
According to Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne, the Department is losing more than Rs.20 million as a result of this.
Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne also stated that if postal workers involved in trade union action fail to report to work, they will be considered to have resigned.
However, due to the current fuel crisis, the postal service is only available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
