There was no mention of national government at the cabinet meeting! The media hype was proven false!

It is reported that no decision has been taken by the Cabinet led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe regarding the formation of a national government.

Speaking to ‘The Morning’ newspaper, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that even in yesterday’s cabinet meeting, there was no discussion in this regard.

He said this when asked by the Morning newspaper regarding media reports that President Wickremesinghe has decided to invite other political parties to form a national government in the future.

“There was no discussion regarding the formation of a national government in the cabinet meeting held yesterday (17). Some media had reported that after the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, the President was going to invite all the parties to come together to form a national government. But the president did not even ask the opinion of the cabinet in this regard. That means he has no intention of forming such a government.” He said.
