Three police officers who were sentenced to ten years in prison by the Jaffna High Court on the charge of torturing two youths in Chunnakam area of Jaffna have been given the same decision again in the Court of Appeal.
The then Jaffna High Court Judge M. Ilanchelian sentenced the three police officers for torturing the youth inside the police station in 2017 for ten years imprisonment in a case heard in the Jaffna High Court .

At the hearing of a petition filed by the defendants in the Court of Appeal challenging the decision, the Jaffna High Court reaffirmed the decision and ordered the prison sentence to be effective from October 2017.
