The ruling party intends to depose PUC Chairman Janaka Ratnayaka via a parliamentary proposal!

The ruling party has decided to submit a proposal to the Parliament on the 24th to remove the chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, Mr. Janaka Ratnayake.

Here, the government had originally planned to suspend the standing orders without debate and ask for a vote on the proposal without including this proposal in the theory book.

Generally, when such a proposal is brought, the said proposal should be submitted to the theory book and kept for 5 days and then a debate should be held.

Accordingly, when this proposal was presented, it is learned that Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, strongly objected to it.

Accordingly, the government has agreed to debate and vote on the 24th.

According to Article 7 of the Public Utilities Commission constitution, a majority of 113 in Parliament is required to remove the chairman of the commission.
