The opposition win to get it Reschedule the debate on the Pearl Xpress ship, which the justice minister denied this morning.

It has been decided in the parliamentary affairs committee meeting that was held a few moments ago to continue the two-day parliamentary debate that was scheduled regarding the Express Pearl ship.

When the debate was about to begin today, the Minister of Justice Wijayadasa Rajapaksa informed the Parliament that it was illegal to conduct the debate, saying that it would harm the ongoing proceedings and raising a question of rules.

The opposition strongly protested and then the speaker adjourned the House and called a meeting of the Committee on Emergency Parliamentary Affairs.

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa also participated in that meeting.

However, the opposition has regained the two-day debate and has managed to regain the time lost due to the adjournment of Parliament.
