Professor Ranjith Bandara, a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, has been appointed as the new head of the COPE Committee.
Mr. Iran Wickramaratne of the opposition also sought this position, and the appointment was made through a vote.
Mr. Ranjith Bandara received fourteen votes, whereas Mr. Eran Wickramaratne received only seven votes.
