The opposition leader made a shocking revelation. The Parliamentary Previlage Committee sent a letter to the Supreme Court.

Even though the Supreme Court gave the interim order that the money allocated by the Parliament for the election should be given in the same way, this government is trying to embarrass the judges of the Supreme Court and by putting pressure on the impartial judiciary and the Independent Election Commission by representing the government and saying that their privileges have been violated through the court decision. The opposition leader also said that the democratic election system will be hindered.

The leader of the opposition said that although the executive, legislature and judiciary are working to save the democratic system in a democratic country, as reported, the parliamentary privilege committee has informed the Supreme Court in writing to give the relevant interim order to the parliamentary privilege committee. The opposition leader further emphasized that the Privileges Committee is exerting a direct massive influence on the judiciary by requesting the interim order of the Supreme Court and it undermines the interim order given by the court.

The leader of the opposition further said that if the parliament points fingers at the judiciary due to the influence of the executive in the legislature, it will cause a complete collapse of the democratic structure of the country and it will have a serious impact on the validity of the democratic structure in this country.

Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said this while joining a cluster meeting of Samagi Jana Balavega held in East Colombo today (16).
