An attempt to uncover stories of “satanic” parents seeking to murder their newborns.
I am deeply moved to write about such an event before the heat of World Children’s Day passed. Russian writer Maxim Gorky once said that ‘the world is made of mother’s milk and sun’s rays’. There are many in the world who are suffer without children. They make various attempt to get a child of their own. They go to deities and make various wows get a child. Lakhs of money are spent to get children. They even resort to getting children through the help of medical tube tests. That is , somehow with the intention of raising up a child.
A mother carries children in her womb for ten months and feeds them with blood and milk. Can a mother or a father put a new born child out of their own blood in a manure bag and tie their mouth? We know that mother’s love is pure and genuine. But this incident is a completely different story.
On the 25th of September a newborn baby was found by the villagers after being left in a deserted muddy lake field in Padduvasnuwara Bandara Koswatta Uragassagama area. When a woman of that village went to tie her cows in the morning for grasing, she heard the sound of a baby crying. She could not believe what she saw when she looked into it. There she saw a baby crying in a white manure sack. Accordingly, she immediately alerted the neighbors and had to open the manure bin. There it was seen that a well-grown baby boy was inside it.
Accordingly, they made a phone call to Suvasarya, 1990 the ambulance and took steps to send the child to Nikaveratiya Hospital.
It’s been a few hours since this baby was born. The villagers said that his umbilical cord was not cut. The child’s body covered with blood and flies covered the manure bag.
The people of the village came together regardless of caste and religion for this infant. In that place there were people of all races, Muslims, Tamils and Sinhalese. The united efforts to save the life of a new born which is appreciable. All of them get the blessings of the deities. According to the information received, this child is currently in good health. The Wariyapola police have started a special investigation to trace the where about of the child’s parents.
A similar incident had happened on August 31. That was when a 51-day-old baby was left with a bag of clothes near an orphanage. A letter note in English was also left where this baby was. It said the day the baby was born and his name. It also said that the baby is a boy, that he should be protected and that he is facing many problems.
This orphanage, known as Sirisangabo Orphanage, is located in Ambegoda area of Bandarawela. The police had said that this child was left in the garage of the orphanage. A female police officer also had taken steps to breastfeed the child in the police station.
Many thanks to that police officer who showed the greatness of the image of Mother. Later, steps were taken to admit this baby to Diyatalawa Hospital.
.On checking the CCTV footage near the children home , it was noted that a male person had come at night and left a suitcase. Regarding the incident, the warden of the children’s home said, ‘About ten to fifteen children come here every month asking to be adopted. But when I saw this child shivering in the cold in the rain, I felt unbearable pain. Don’t do this to the children…’
Another similar incident happened on the 25th. It was an incident of selling a 7-day-old baby for 50,000 rupees. The woman who bought the child and a person who acted as an intermediary were also arrested by the police. Police mentioned that the woman who bought the child is a resident of Kabithigollewa Wahalkada area and the middleman was a tricycle driver from Anuradhapura.
The child’s mother had complained to the police about the incident. According to the complaint, the relevant suspects were arrested during an investigation. The father who sold the child for 50,000 rupees has fled the village after the transaction was completed. It has also been reported that this couple was not legally married and was staying as husband and wife in different places in Anuradhapura city.
The police had stated that the suspect’s father is a person from Matale area and the mother is a woman from Colombo area. The arrested suspect and the arrested female suspect were produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court on the 26th. On the instructions of Anuradhapura Chief Police Inspector Mr. Lakmal Wijeratne, the investigation of this incident was conducted under the direction of Mrs. Yamuna Kanti, Officer in charge of the Children Bureau.
Even though our country was known as the land of Buddha, when we hear and see such incidents, it means that the values of the past have disappeared from our country. How much does a mother love a child from the moment it is conseaved? Eat very carefully because it will poison the child. Do not eat bad food. Find and eat nutritious food. As a healthy child, the child sees the light of this world and thinks every second of the day. Parents do not expect any profits doing this. As long as there is life, mother’s labor is used for her children. Second by second, she thinks how to make the children’s world beautiful. How to keep children happy. But it is sad to see that there are parents in this country who do not want to take care of a child born well without any deficiency.
A mother cannot do this. If a child is given a birth of love, the children will not subject for the problems. How many mothers and fathers are there in this world who are suffering without children, going to temples and deities and praying for children?
There are many orphanages in this country. If their children were a burden to them, they would have given that child to such a place. It is the responsibility of everyone including the authorities to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
In the past, one family had eight to ten children in the villages. But today, with the country’s economy, it is very difficult for a family to adopt a child. People cannot afford the expenses of the country.
Young women often feel helpless in the face of blind love. Sometimes this can be the result of unrequited love. However, you can be happy that the child is safe. The mothers who gave birth to these babies must be in an unspeakable problem. But it can never be justified and excused. Can the person called mother stoop down so low? Even beasts love their young ones.
These parents are more extreme than beasts. Both sides are guilty of such incidents. It should not be forgotten that an opportunistic man is also involved in these incidents. There are some fathers who rape their own daughters at home. Children’s ear rings are pawned, they consume alchahal and use drugs. Meanwhile, some young women go too far in love relationships and give birth to children, then kill the child and throw it in to the river. Otherwise they are abandoned in the forest. But even if this mother is saved from the world’s troubles, she will never be saved from her own conscience.
If they cannot keep the children alive, they should be asked not to give birth to children in this world and make them orphans.
Remember that if child abuse is happening anywhere in this country, you can call 1929 24 hours a day to report it. If a child is born into this world, it is the responsibility of every parent to make his future healthy. Even the Buddha has preached that in the Sigalovada Sutra.
If the children had gone to the Probation and Child Protection Department and handed them over to a responsible officer instead of leaving them on the roads in the jungles, such a tragedy would not have happened today.
There are many people in this world who are begging without children. They will accept the child and adopt it with love. Many people are waiting to accept children in orphanages. They will make the lives of those children beautiful.
God bless you dear son… you will never hate your mother. No matter what kind of hidden story is written on the back of your mother, there is no other title in this world as noble as the title of mother.
Your mother didn’t even care about the word mother. Your mother is not lucky to have you around, son. I did not think why a mother would do this to a child. I also came from a mother’s womb. Your breath was saved because of your kindness, which does not understand love or pain. All God’s blessings.
