Mrs. Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the US State Department, said that the local government elections should be held in March and the people should be given a free opportunity to make a decision.
After meeting the President, she expressed these views to the media and stated that China has not done the necessary debt restructuring to get the support of the International Monetary Fund.
