The Chairman of the Election Commission has sent a letter to the Minister of State Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government informing them to immediately dissolve the local government bodies at the moment when an election has been called.
It is said that the commission has informed in its letter that the commission does not have the power to dissolve the local government bodies, and that power rests with the minister.
