The Eastern Province Governor of Gota’s ‘Viatmaga’ tries to replace the name of a road that has been there since colonial times and makes a huge mess!

Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath has been involved in many controversial incidents in the past few months.

The latest was an attempt to rename a colonial-era street in Eravur.

The existing name is ‘Punnaikuda Road’ and the Governor is going to change it to ‘Elvis Walgama’ Road.

Several objections were raised regarding this plan saying that it would hinder communal harmony.

Although a meeting of the opposition parties was held in Batticaloa this week, the Governor did not change her position.

Recently, after another controversy, the governor had tried to free the land used for cattle grazing for farming activities.
