The dates for the examination of opposition election petitions have been set! If elections are not called, the court  asked to report!

On January 18, the Supreme Court heard two petitions from a group of parliamentarians asking the Election Commission to issue a writ for local government elections.

SJB Member of Parliament, Chief Organizer of the Opposition, and attorney at law Mr. Lakshman Kiriella stated that if the election announcement is not made by December 31, the Election Commission will report the facts to the court.

The petitions were summoned today (16) before the Supreme Court bench of Mr. Priyantha Jayawardena, Mr. Kumuduni Wickramasinghe, and Mr. Achala Vengappuli.
