The Constitutional Council says that it has not yet been officially notified that a member of the Election Commission has resigned.
Its chairman and speaker Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that further action will be taken after the official notification.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nimal Punchihewa, Chairman of the National Election Commission, lawyer Mr. Nimal Punchihewa stated that no member has yet officially informed him of his resignation.
He said that responding to reports about Mrs. P.S.M. Charles recent reports of resignation from membership of the commission.
