The Auditor General investigating the SL government’s unilateral cancellation of the light rail project.

The Auditor General has started a special investigation into the unilateral termination of the light rail project by the Sri Lankan government, which was being implemented with the support of Japan.

Auditor General W.P.C. Mr. Wickramaratne mentioned that the report will be submitted to the Parliament soon.

Former President Gotabaya Rajapakse ordered the cancellation of the light rail project, which was intended to include 16 railway stations along 15.7 kilometers using Japanese technology, saying that it was not a cost-effective solution to the congestion in the capital.
