T20 World Cup: Sri Lanka crash out after Australia beat Afghanistan

Sri Lanka crashed out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 after Australia registered a thrilling four-run win over Afghanistan in their final Super 12 match in Adelaide on Friday.

Australia jumped to seven points after winning their final Super 12 match.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals, after it became evident that Australia wouldn’t be able to overtake their NRR. Australia had to win by 185 runs against Afghanistan to overhaul the Blackcaps’ NRR, but now, having only set Afghanistan a target of 169, the best the hosts can do is finish on +1.877.
