Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) closed 26 minutes early on Monday after one index fell more than 5%, driven by market heavyweights.
“Please note that the market has been paused due to the S&P SL20 index plummeting above 5% from the previous close, per SEC Directive of 30th April 2020. The CSE halted trading for the day.
Expolanka and Lanka IOC led the index decline, each down 9.3%.
ASPI plummeted 3.8% and S&P SL20 plunged 4.9% when trading was halted.
