Sri Lanka’s first Monkeyfox patient detected ! Arrived from Dubai on the 1st! A 20 year old boy! 

Dr. Jude Jayamaha, a virologist at the Medical Research Institute’s Virology Department, said yesterday (03) that a patient with symptoms of monkey fever (Monkey Fox), which is widespread in many countries, was diagnosed in Sri Lanka for the first time.

A 20-year-old boy who arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai on the 1st has been identified as follows.

He was referred to the STD clinic with symptoms such as fever, skin blisters, and swollen lymph nodes. Then the doctors, who were suspicious about the symptoms, sent the blood samples of him and 6 other people to the Medical Research Institute on November 2. It has been confirmed that he contracted monkey fever from his blood samples. Monkey Fox is a viral disease, according to WHO sources. It can spread between humans from animals, from the environment. The World Health Organization has declared an emergency due to the spread of this disease.
