Sri Lanka seeks assistance from its neighbours after a Navy boat carrying six sailors went missing for a month.

The Sri Lanka Navy said it has asked neighbouring countries for help in finding the missing Sri Lanka Navy boat, which was carrying six Sri Lankan sailors.

According to Navy Spokesperson Captain Indika De Silva, information about the missing boat was relayed to authorities in India, the Maldives, Indonesia, and Australia, with the assumption that the Sri Lanka Navy boat may have drifted into international waters.

The Sri Lanka Navy boat, which was carrying out operations to monitor suspicious activity off Sri Lanka’s southern coast, left the country on September 16th and has been missing for exactly one month.

The Sri Lanka Navy lost contact with the boat in question on September 17, 2022, and the Navy Spokesperson stated that search and rescue operations are still underway to locate the missing sailors and the boat.
