Sri Lanka has been named one of Asia’s 20 poorest countries.

The Yahoo Finance website has shown that due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, has been included among the 20 poorest countries in Asia.

Although Sri Lanka is introduced as a middle-income country, the Yahoo Finance website has reported that Sri Lanka is included among the 20 poorest countries in Asia.

This ranking is based on the per capita gross domestic product of 2021. Accordingly, Sri Lanka has the 17th place among the 20 poorest countries in Asia. It shows that the per capita gross domestic product of Sri Lanka in 2021 is US$ 5555.

The first place in this ranking has been won by North Korea and its per capita GDP in 2021 is US$ 931.

Second and third places are held by Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The GDP per capita of those countries is 1149 and 1561 US dollars respectively.

The 20th place in this ranking is occupied by Mongolia, whose GDP per capita in 2021 is US$ 7178.
