Mr. Donald Lu, the Deputy Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Regions of the United States of America, is scheduled to visit the island.
It is reported that he is scheduled to come to Sri Lanka on the 19th.
A high-ranking delegation from the American government will also join him on this trip.
It is reported that he is ready to discuss the economic problems of the region as well as the economic crisis in the country and the human rights situation with the government authorities as well as the representatives of the opposition.
A few weeks ago, Mr. Lu visited India, as the media reported, and he discussed the situation in Sri Lanka with the Indian authorities.
During his visit to India, the heads of the International Monetary Fund were also in India.
