The wildlife officials of Somavathiya state that the body of a wild elephant which was killed and buried in a land belonging to Polonnaruwa Kandakadu army farm was found.
Somavathiya site assistant CA said that the body parts of this wild elephant, which was killed two days ago, were covered with earth and covered with myla leaves to hide the body parts. Wanasinghe said.
According to the information received, the site assistant said that this crime was revealed during an investigation carried out yesterday (05) morning at the place where the wild elephant was killed and buried.
He said that after reporting the matter to the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court, the body of the wild elephant will be exhumed and post-mortem examination will be carried out by the Giritale wildlife veterinarians.
