Siridhamma thero granted conditional bail under the PTA! Foreign travel restrictions and reporting to the counter-terrorism unit on the last Sunday of each month

Reverend Galvewa Siridhamma Thero, who was remanded in custody, has been released on 2 personal bails of 5 lakh rupees.

He was remanded under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for 89 days.

Senior Deputy Solicitor General Dilipa Peers, who appeared on behalf of the Anti-Terrorism Division along with Senior Government Counsel Shawindra Wickrama, informed the court that the Attorney General would agree to release the suspect on conditional bail under Section 7 (2) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Accordingly, the Additional Magistrate, who ordered the release of Siridhamma Thero on two sureties of 5 lakh rupees each, also ordered to ban the foreign travel of the said Thero.

Also, another bail condition was imposed that he should report to the Counter-Terrorism Bureau on the last Sunday of every month.

The Additional Magistrate, who imposed a bail condition on the suspect Siridhamma Thero to refrain from making statements regarding the case, stated in the order that they should refrain from engaging in violent activities during the trial period and that the bail would be revoked if complaints were made that they had done so.
