Police investigations have revealed that the university student who was killed yesterday (17) near the football federation building behind the Kurunduwatta racecourse stadium was her boyfriend.
It has been revealed in the investigation that the reason for this murder is the killer’s irrational fear that she will leave him and build a relationship with another person.
After killing the girl, the suspect first went to the university.
Chaturi Hansika Mallikarachchi, a third-year student of the Faculty of Science of the University of Colombo, who was a resident of Homagama Kiriwatthuduwa Pubudu Garden, was murdered. She is a young woman who has passed university entrance from a Nugegoda Girls School. She ran her own YouTube channel related to education. She is the eldest daughter of the family. Father and mother had served in the army and retired.
The killer was Vikramage Pasidu Chaturanga de Silva, resident of 245/A 3, Fortila Uswatta Road, Wellampitiya, who was a student of the Faculty of Science of the University of Colombo.
It has been revealed in the police investigations that the arrested murderer was a person who managed his economy and was studying by conducting tutoring classes for grades 9-10 and 11 in Wellampitiya, Kolonnawa, Kotikawatta, Kiribathgoda.
He told police investigators that the reason he killed her was because she was trying to leave him for another relationship.

Investigations have also revealed that he had put strict restrictions on the student and did not allow her to talk to another man with strong suspicion that she would develop a relationship with another young man.
Investigators say that the knife used by the suspect to kill the student was bought a few days before, and that the killing was planned in advance.
He put the knife in his bag and came near the racecourse with her at around 12.30 yesterday afternoon.
While chatting with the student and telling her how to behave, the girl said that she can no longer associate with him in this way.
At the same time, the angry young man told the investigators that he committed the murder.
The young man who killed his girlfriend wiped the blood on his hands in the bag and put the knife in the bag and ran towards the university. Several security cameras recorded him running like that.
After going to university, he returned to his home in Wellampitiya and left his mobile phone and ID at home. The police investigators initially had doubts whether he had left to kill himself by jumping into the Kelani River.
But when he returned home, a police team went and arrested him.
The blood-stained knife used to kill the girl was found in his suitcase.
Kurunduwatta police are conducting further investigations.
