‘Ritigala Kolitha’ Minneriya tusker shot dead: tusks removed!

The Ritigala Wildlife Site Office says that a tusker named “Kolitha” roaming around Minneriya National Parks and Ritigala has been shot and killed.

According to information given by the local residents to the Ritigala Wildlife Office, the wildlife officers found Kolitha’s body.

The Ritigala Wildlife Site Protection Office has also filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident.

Wildlife officials say that this 15-year-old elephant had a couple of well-growing tusks of about 02 feet in length and the elephant had become a tourist attraction.
