Rishad was cleared of the charge of one crore of money misappropriation, which previously the combined opposition had harped on!

He has been acquitted of the case against former minister Rishad Badiuddin, who was accused of misusing public funds and transporting people in violation of election laws.

When the related case was brought before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Mr. Thilina Gamage today (06), the former minister and his group were released from this case according to the instructions of the Attorney General.

During the 2015 presidential election, buses belonging to the Ceylon Transport Board were used to transport the displaced persons of the Silawathura area during the election. There were accusations against him that he had misused more than 95 lakhs belonging to the government.
