Reverend Pallegama Hemarathana Thero of Ruwanweli Sa Chaityaramadhikari has been appointed as the Anuradhapura Atamasthanadhipati.
The Atamasthana Committee has met and made this appointment and the new Atamasthan President Reverend Pallegama Hemarathana Thero is scheduled to officially start his duties on the 11th.
Pallegama Hemarathana Thero is considered to be the 11th Nahimi to hold the post of Anuradhapura Atamasthanadipati.
A series of religious activities will be held at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi on Friday morning to bless the prelate. He will be taken in procession to the nothern entrance of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi where he will appointed by the head of the Atamasthana Karaka Sabha Dr. Janaka Bulankulama by traditional handing in a tray of flowers.
Reverend Pallegama Sirinivasa Thero, who served in that position, passed away on the 18th.
