Religious liberty in Sri Lanka deteriorated last year! attention should be paid! says US Commission on International Religious Freedom

The US Commission on International Religious Freedom has recommended to the US State Department in its 2023 annual report that due to the deterioration of religious freedom in Sri Lanka last year, attention should be paid to it.

For the first time, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom has recommended the US State Department to include Sri Lanka in the special watch list to draw attention to the deterioration of religious freedom in the country.

The American Commission on International Religious Freedom recommends to the US State Department that if the governments of countries in the world violate religious freedom or ignore incidents of violation, to focus on those countries.

The 2023 annual report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom has recommended 9 countries to the special watch list. Algeria and the Central African Republic, which were included in the list in 2022, have also been included in the list this year.

Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Indonesia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Central African Republic are the 11 countries included in the special watch list this year.
