Qingdao Seawin sets an ultimatum for Agri Ministry

The organic fertiliser manufacturer, which has recently been at the centre of controversy, has written to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Agriculture, expecting a response within five days.

According to Qingdao Seawin Biotech Group Co., Ltd., there is a major fertiliser shortage in Sri Lanka for the Maha Season, and the country needs to import USD 300 million in fertiliser.

It goes on to say that the Ministry of Agriculture has not stated whether the project will be continued or cancelled, and that the project has resulted in losses of USD 8 million to Qingdao Seawin Biotech, with the losses continuing to grow.

Qingdao Seawin Biotech has asked the Sri Lankan Ministry of Agriculture to specify whether it intends to continue cooperation or terminate it, and how long it will take to implement such a plan.

Qingdao Seawin Biotech concludes that it will take further action if necessary.
