Professionals in our county are fed up with the system and are fleeing to greener pastures! AKD tells Sri Lankans in South Korea!

The leader of the Janatha Vimukti Peramuna, Colombo District Member of Parliament Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the number of lecturers required for the Information Technology Studies Department of Kelaniya University is 26, but now there are four, and more than 3,800 top professionals from the country’s banks have left the country.

Last (April 16) in Daegu, South Korea, the MP disclosed this while addressing the Sri Lankans living there.

The meeting was held at the Exco Hall in Daegu and was attended by a large number of people.

“There are three main types of groups that go abroad in our country. One is the people who have a certain social status within the country, have a job, have a source of income but have no confidence in the future.

According to recent reports, Kelaniya University’s I.T. department professor said that the department usually needs at least 26 teachers. But now there are only four. An advertisement was placed in a newspaper and interviews were called. But it had been reported in the media recently that no professional with such knowledge, ability and skill has come.

All the four pediatricians of Anuradhapura Children’s Hospital have gone abroad. That section of the children’s hospital had to be closed. Similarly, more than 3800 high professionals of our country’s banks have left the country. A bank manager, a university professor, a doctor, an I.T. engineer is the professional labor of a country. If you look at the history of Korea’s development, education and professional labor have played an important role. New products, new inventions, new technological opportunities, are created by professional labor. Our country’s professional labor is leaving the country.” He further said.
