Priyantha Jayakodi to combat crime in the western province.

The Inspector General of Police has taken steps to appoint Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Prishantha Jayakodi as the Chief of Crime Suppression Police in the Western Province.

This appointment has been made by the Inspector General of Police subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security.

Mr. Prishantha Jayakodi also served as Police Media Spokesman for some time. Later, he went to Australia in 2014 while working as Senior Superintendent of Police for Ratnapura Division and stayed there after receiving political asylum.

He returned to Sri Lanka during the good governance government and contested the 2015 general election from the United National Party. He also became the Mahara seat organizer of the UNP.

Later, Mr. Prishantha Jayakodi went to the political revenge committee of the good governance government and was reinstated and promoted.
