An armed motorcycle gang robbed a police officer’s home.
It was the home of Kalutara North Police OIC Inspector of Police, Mr Nishan Kumara, in Welipenna.
According to the Welipenna Police, an armed gang on motorcycles robbed gold jewellery and two mobile phones today (03) and fled.
The police, inspector, was not present at the time of the robbery, and his wife was assaulted by the robbers.
The suspects were armed with a T-56 assault rifle.
Further investigations are being carried out by the SP of Kalutara North and the OIC of Welipenna, as well as several police officers.
