Opposition Leader Vows Truth and Justice in Debate on Easter Attack: Calls Out Government’s Cover-Up Efforts

Today in Parliament, the opposition leader addressed the ongoing debate on the Easter Sunday attack, highlighting past revelations made by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

He criticized the government parties for abstaining from the debate, considering the attack unworthy of discussion—an insult to those affected. He outlined plans for a transparent investigation under a Samagi Jana Balawegaya government, including the establishment of a special commission with local and foreign judges, an independent prosecutor’s office, and a special court for prosecution.

He accused the previous Gotabhaya Rajapaksa government of concealing the truth, alleging suppression of investigations and mistreatment of officials. The opposition leader pledged to uncover the truth, vowing not to yield to intimidation or threats. He criticized the current government for failing to adequately compensate victims while prioritizing ministers’ interests.

He affirmed his commitment to revealing the truth, even if it meant relinquishing his position. Swearing on his father’s legacy, he pledged to stand by the victims and the Catholic community, ensuring truth and justice prevail.
