The Ministry of Foreign Employment has decided to allow only those who have sent dollars to the country through legal channels to return overseas for jobs ..

Minister Manusha Nanayakkara stated that legal provisions will be developed to allow Sri Lankan migrant workers to return overseas for employment based on the sum of their previous remittances and only if they are made through official banking channels.

He also stated that efforts are being made to obtain Cabinet approval to allow Sri Lankan migrant workers to import vehicles using remittances.
The tax break for Sri Lankan migrant workers to shop duty-free at airports will be expanded, and other breaks for house construction and self-employment will be provided based on their remittances.

The announcement was made by the Minister while providing air tickets to a group of female Sri Lankan migrant workers who are on their way to Israel for work.
