Odisha train accident: Coromandel express train collides with goods train;50 people dead, over 350 injured I Sri Lanka Latest News

In a major train accidet, an express train collided with a goods train in Odisha in which atleast 50 people have reportedly lost their lives. The toll figure may rise as over 350 are said to have been injured in the accident.

“At around 7pm, 10-12 coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed near Baleswar and fell on the opposite track. After some time, another train from Yeswanthpur to Howrah dashed into those derailed coaches resulting in the derailment of its 3-4 coache ..Railway Spokesperson Amitabh Sharma told newswire agency ANI.


The injured have been taken to the Balasore Medical college while the seriously have been shifted to the Cuttack medical.
“Nearly 50 ambulances have reported but the injured appear far too many. Large (number) of buses being mobilised to shift injured to hospital”, Pradeep Jena, Odisha’s Chief Secretary, wrote on Twitter.
