Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Ports, Navigation and Aviation Services, said that the Mattala International Airport, which is running at a loss level, is also being called for proposals to be handed over to a foreign investor.
He also mentioned that discussions are ongoing on how to hand over the administrative affairs of the airport to an investor.
The construction of the Mattala International Airport started in 2009 during the Mahinda Rajapaksa government and was opened in 2013.
