“He is not hiding” but set to come back home minister Bandula says on Gotabaya Rajapakse’s return

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is set to return to Sri Lanka, according to Cabinet spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena.

After the Cabinet meeting, the minister told reporters that the former President was not hiding in Singapore.

According to some reports, the former President visited Singapore after obtaining an official visa and did not seek refuge.

When asked about a complaint filed with Singapore’s Attorney General to have Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrested and reports that he would return to Sri Lanka in August, the minister stated the following.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena went on to say that the facts raised by the journalist were not discussed at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting.

According to the minister, if anything changes, the former President will be notified by the appropriate authorities.

On the political front, he added that the government has not been informed of the former President’s travel plans or any specific dates for his return.
