Police have arrested a man who hooted at Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardane while he was attending an event near Pitipana Junction in Homagama.
When a man driving by in a lorry hooted at the crowd and sped away, the Minister was taking part in a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for a Buddhist shrine.
The police, who acted quickly, pursued the lorry and arrested the suspect. He is scheduled to appear in court for obstructing a religious ceremony and questioning the right to practise religion.
The suspect is a 43-year-old businessman from Pitipana North in Homagama.
