It is a serious crime not to hold elections! It has no place in a country! The election may take place in August! Former EC discusses the LG vote! VIDEO

Mahinda Deshapriya, the former chairman of the Election Commission, says that it is a crime not to hold the election on time.

Pointing out that it is something that should not happen in a country, the former chairman of the Election Commission says that he expects the election to be held next August.

“It is a crime not to hold polls on time under any circumstances. And it’s a sad situation. Something that should not happen in a country. How to solve this problem is the problem today. That ability belongs to the Election Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the Treasury together, not the media, us, or the common people of the country. There is a loss of representative democracy. Democracy includes not only democracy but also economic freedom, cultural freedom, religious freedom, and all aspects of fundamental rights. No elections really means no democracy. I hope that at least this poll will be held before World Youth Day in August or on September 15 World Democracy Day.”

Question – You are the most successful person who has successfully conducted many elections in this country. Why not support this?

“There is no such thing. I am not of the opinion that I am the world, only I can do it. I’m not a wrestler. There are more fighters than me…”
