The importers have informed the Ministry of Commerce that the import of wheat flour to Sri Lanka has stopped due to India’s banning the export of bread flour.
Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, India has stopped importing bread flour. Therefore, the government of India has decided to maintain the bread reserve as a safety reserve. Sri Lanka imported breadcrumbs from India.
The importers say that there was also the possibility of importing bread flour from India. Currently, it is possible to import bread flour only from Turkey.
