The National Transport Commission has decided to increase the minimum bus fare to Rs. 40.
All bus fares to be increased by 22% from July 1st.
However all Ceylon Private Bus Owners’ Association had demanded a minimum 30% hike with effect from 01 July. Due to the fuel price hike and other price increases escalate the operating cost of the transport fleet.
