Hugurakkgoda Airport to be converted into an international airport by Minister Nimal!

Higurakgoda Airport will be upgraded into an international airport, according to Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva. 

He explained the purpose of this by saying that it will help foreign tourists who want to visit Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, and Dambulla. The goal is to attract foreign exchange into the country.

The minister also stated that Higurakgoda airport should be able to accommodate minimum E 330 planes should be able to land and take off from the airport, and that a field study in this regard would be conducted soon.

The current length of the runaway is approximately 2287 metres, and it could be extended up to 2800 metres. Under this plan, an entry path, air hangar, air control tower, and passenger terminal would be built.
