President Ranil Wickramasinghe had recently ordered the Inspector General of Police to form a separate police unit to protect religious harmony.
Thus, it is reported that the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has requested the Inspector General of Police for a report related to the special training to be given to the police officers assigned to that unit if a separate police unit is built for the sake of religious harmony.
