Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s return home is postponed, Reuters tells the exact day

Former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was scheduled to visit the island today (24), but his visit has been postponed by two weeks, according to Reuters.
According to Reuters, Mr. Rajapaksa will remain in Thailand until the first week of September next year.

As per the report, if the security is confirmed, the former president will visit the island even sooner.

Reuters further notes the ex- president’s trip to Sri Lanka has been accelerated due to the high cost of staying in Thailand.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has informed President Ranil Wickramasinghe that Mr. Rajapaksa should be entitled to the privileges and facilities afforded to former presidents under the law.
