Going for a fresh mandate is the only way out – Mahinda Deshapriya

Former Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya emphasizes that the mandate granted in both the previous presidential election and the parliamentary general election has been revoked. A parliamentary election to find a new government is urgently needed. He argues that if democratic elections are held, there will be institutions to fund, citing Afghanistan and Bangladesh as examples.

According to the former Election Commissioner, government officials have already stated that they are willing to perform election duties without pay.
