Foster parents for 40,000 malnourished children

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella says that due to the parents not being able to meet the nutritional needs of nearly 40,000 malnourished children, a foster parent system will be started immediately for those children, and the related proposal will be submitted to Parliament today (29).

The Minister of Health states that around 21,000 malnourished children have been identified so far, and that number may increase in the future.

Accordingly, efforts have been made to implement this foster parent search program targeting 40,000 malnourished children.

It is also reported that the government has allocated 500 million rupees for the related project and an Indian company and a private institution in Sri Lanka have given an amount of one billion rupees for it.
