Finally, Mahinda speaks in Parliament! Aplauds Ranil’s budget and blames good governance for the nation’s hefty debt loads.

Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the good governance government took too much debt for the country.

He said this while making a special statement in Parliament today (22).

In the meantime, while giving further comments, he said that he will never leave the people and ran away.

“The budget indicated that the president will create a new economy as the finance minister. There are many long-term and short-term activities that we need to do to create such an economy. We have to understand all this with the realities of the global economic and political process. We can create a positive future only if we follow such a strategic road plan. Therefore, it is important that we all support it subject to the amendments.

The good governance government took too much debt for us to bear. It is not a secret for the country and this assembly. There were some people in that government who came up with ideas to build today’s economy. When asked to take responsibility, they say no. They always want to be on the popular side. We don’t need that kind of heroism. It is our attitude to face problems and challenges. In our moment, the people did not abandon and run away… and it will not happen like that. We took over the country amid a mountain of debt. It has been taken like this and until today, it has given the necessary support to move the country forward amid difficulties. It will not change in the future.”
